A large portion of Central Texas is now under a Flash Flood Watch, with forecast totals of 2-4" with some locations nearing 6". An area of low pressure is forecast to meander along the Gulf Coast, causing several rounds of heavy rain across Central and Eastern Texas. The good news is that some of this rain will fall across drought stricken areas, however much of East Texas is no longer in a drought. Any westward shift with the heavy rain would certainly be welcome, but at least some relief is forecast. Although the overall drought area has diminished since last March, areas with extreme and exceptional drought have seen worsening conditions.
